Why Sonovy Sync Stands Out

Seamless End-to-End Service

Sonovy Sync offers a comprehensive solution for artists, from pitching your music and negotiating favorable licensing deals to handling the paperwork and royalty collections. You stay focused on your craft while we handle the complexities of sync placements.

Exposure and Growth

Sync licensing has become an essential revenue stream and career accelerator for independent artists. A successful placement through Sonovy Sync can mean more than just income—it’s an opportunity to reach new audiences, expand your profile, and build a sustainable music career.

Your Creative Control

We know how important your music is to you. While we prioritize rapid decision-making to capitalize on sync opportunities, we maintain your creative interests by consulting you on placements that may be sensitive or non-traditional.

Collaborative Pitching

Want to pitch your own music independently? Absolutely! We encourage you to do so. When an opportunity arises and negotiations begin, our legal and negotiation team steps in to ensure you secure the best possible terms without compromising your rights.

How To Get Started with Sonovy Sync

Opt-in through your Sonovy Publishing Dashboard and use the “Submit Music” feature. Provide high-quality audio files and comprehensive details about your songs—these steps enhance your chances for sync success.

Instrumentals and Clean Versions

While not mandatory, having instrumental and non-explicit versions of your tracks opens more doors for sync opportunities. Editors often prefer these versions to work seamlessly with dialogue-heavy or broadcast-compliant scenes.

Samples and Clearances

Tracks with samples must have documented clearance from original rights holders for consideration. We’ll request this documentation before pitching or licensing such tracks.

Revenue and Payments

Royalties from sync placements are reflected in your Sonovy dashboard and typically post 45 days after the end of each calendar quarter. Payments align with the quarter when Sonovy receives funds from the production.

Enhancing Your Sync Potential:

  • Creative Match: Your music should align with the project’s theme or tone, whether it’s background ambiance or a driving narrative force.
  • Rights Ownership: Ensure all publishing rights are accounted for, especially when collaborating with other artists.
  • High-Quality Production: High-fidelity audio files (.wav) and production quality that rivals industry standards make a significant difference.
  • Online Presence: Maintain a strong, active online presence; supervisors may seek more context on the artists they feature.

Navigating Sync Opportunities

Sync placements often come in waves and take time, so patience is essential. Sometimes, the right opportunity aligns suddenly, and Sonovy Sync is here to make sure you’re ready when it does. Authenticity and staying true to your music are key, as decision-makers often value genuine artistry over trend-following.

Opting Out of Sonovy Sync

You can opt out via your Publishing Dashboard. Requests submitted 45 days before the end of a quarter take effect at that quarter’s conclusion; those sent later apply from the end of the next quarter.

Quarterly Periods:

  • January 1st – March 31st
  • April 1st – June 30th
  • July 1st – September 30th
  • October 1st – December 31st

For example, a request submitted on March 23rd would be effective on June 30th, while one on June 15th would take effect on October 1st. Until the opt-out is finalized, Sonovy will continue working to license and represent your music.
